Space NK Christmas

Today kicked off a run of Christmas in July events for me – that odd time when it’s the warmest week of the year, yet in you step to winter wonderlands. Space NK was a great place to start it off – where the Christmas gifts they have this year are gorgeous. There is something for everyone, from candles, skincare, make up and body ranges – all packed into beautiful collections.

I realise this will be rather a picture heavy post – but I feel, in this case – the photos need to do the talking!

Aromatherapy Associates have a great range of gifts – including the star to hang from your Christmas tree which contains a 7.5ml bottle of Inner Strength bath and shower oil (£10) The Inner Strength oil is also available in a rollerball tube – 10ml to apply instantly to your skin (£15) Also photographed is the Rodial Glam Balm Lip which is also in a tree-hanging box (£12)

The By Terry Baum de Rose set – 5 gorgeous mini lip glosses (£52)

Diptyque mini collection

70g versions of the Diptyque Christmas candles (£26)

This large Diptyque candle will come in a set including the glass dome (£100) Also pictured is the Space NK Shimmering Spice Candle (75g – £15 / 175g £30) which smells deliciously like Christmas, and the little holes in the wrapper leave a gorgeous glow to your room.

Emma Hardie Age Renewal Collection – Age Support Treatment Cream, Moringa Facial Exfoliator, Rejuvinating Night Cream, Age Support Eye Cream (£79)

How gorgeous does the Eve Lom display look!? This is the Ultimate Collection 2014 which contains a 200ml Cleanser, 50ml TLC Radiance Cream, 7ml Kiss Mix, 20ml Eye Cream, 100ml Rescue Mask and a muslin cloth (£175)

Eve Lom’s complexon range will also be available in Christmas sets. You can see at the front left the hanging star which contains a 7ml Kiss Mix lip balm (£16)
A selection of Oribe products available at Space NK

Another gorgeous set from Laura Mercier

Laura Mercier Mini Caviar Stick Eye Colour Collection – 1g minis of the Caviar Sticks in Rosegold, Amethyst, Moonlight, Copper, Khaki and Cocoa (£38)
Pictured at the top of the photo is the Caudalíe Anti-Oxidant Defense Set – containing 30ml Polyphenol C15 Serum, 15ml Polyphenol C15 Fluid, 5ml Polyphenol C15 Eye and Lip Créme (£35), next down is the Elemental Herbology Pure Essentials Hand Cream and Lip Balm Duo (£25), and bottom of the pic is the Caudalîe Hand Cream Trio (£12)
Nudestix is a new brand from America owned by two teenage girls who believe young girls should keep their make up nude and as natural as possible. I tried the lip gloss pencil in Whisper and LOVE it!
Lion Heart is another new brand to Space NK, I chatted to the owner who told me that this is the purest form of Omega 3 you can get in England. I tried some of the oil, and although there is a distinctly fishy taste, it’s bearable as it’s mixed with lemon, and as soon as you swallow the taste is gone. Far better than the Omega 3 capsules that I’ve been taking that repeat on me all day!
This funky looking box is the Révive Art Box – containing Moisturizing Renewal Cream Supreme 50ml, Fermitif Neck Renewal Cream SPF 15 30ml, Eye Renewal Serum 30ml, Moisturising Renewal Eye Cream 50ml (£465). The top right of the photo shows the Darphin Anti-Ageing & Radiance Set – containing Ideal Resource Cream 50ml, Ideal Resource Eye Serum 5ml, Ideal Resource Overnight Cream 15ml (£52)
The mountain of Space NK gifts, ranging from REN to Ciate
The lovely refreshments on offer

Some goodies from Lipstick Queen – the red box is the Red Carpet set, containing Said Red, Red Sinner and Red Metal – 3 different red lipsticks (£45), the palette behind it is Kevin Aucoin but I’m afraid I don’t have any further details on that

Candle heaven!

Gifts galore!

Pictured left is the Laura Mercier Body & Bath Golden Honey Musk Duet – containing a 170ml Honey Bath, and 170ml Sofflé Body Créme  and a wooden dipper (£35) Pictured left is the Laura Mercier Body & Bath La Petite Påtisserie Soufflé Body Créme Collection – containing 60ml pots of body souffles in Almond Coconut Milk, Ambre Vanillé, Créme De Pastiche, Fresh Fig, Créme Brulée and Tarte Au Citron (£45)

So… there’s your sneek peak at Christmas from Space NK!

Neom Scents of Christmas Candles

Once again, Neom have pulled it out of the bag. They are the name behind some of my favourite candles, and the Scents of Christmas Travel Candle Collection (£42) doesn’t disappoint.

Inside are three travel-sized versions of their festive scented candles, each in a beautiful glass jar – and with 20 hours burn time each.

The candles, which are also all available as full sized 3-wicked badboys, or individually as travel-sized are in Christmas Wish (gold glass), Harmonise (silver glass) and Comforting (rose gold glass).

My favourite of the trio, and I’m sad to say, now all burned, is definitely Comforting. It’s the first time I’d smelled this one, but definitely won’t be the last time as I’m now putting the large size on my Christmas list. If my house could smell like this forever, I would be a very happy girl. Although it does fit within the festive theme, I wouldn’t restrict it to that alone, as it’s a gorgeous, sweet and woody smell which really does leave the room smelling cosy and delicious. The scents in all the candles are made from pure natural extracts and aromatherapy oils with nothing synthetic about them, which results in a really clean smooth, pure smell. The scents in Comforting are Cedarwood, Vetiver and Star Anise. It’s a caramelley, smokey, citrusey, manly, gorgeous aroma.

Harmonise’s scents are Pine, Eucalyptus and Cedarwood which are definitely apparent when burning this candle. It’s a really fresh smell, with the pine definitely coming through. It’s the perfect fit to christmas, and if you have an artificial tree this would help bringing the smell of real Christmas trees to your home.

Christmas Wish, I could nearly eat. It reminds me of Lebkuchen – every time I have this candle burning I want to eat Lebkuchen arghhhh! It’s scents are Mandarin, Cinnamon and Tonka Bean. It is full of Christmasseyness and the one I’m saving the last few hours of to accompany my Christmas day.

    Benefit Wrapped Up In Love

On Friday I went along to the new Benefit Boutique in Carnaby Street to have a nosey round – it is great! Not only can you purchase all the Benefit goodies you’d like, they also have a Shellac nail bar, Vita Liberata tanning room, and a little hair styling salon where you can choose from a list of hair styles to have done. To celebrate their opening they are offering a free hair styling sesh every time you purchase a product (for a limited time only so if you have anything you want to buy and you’re in the area, get there quick to take advantage!)

While we were there we got to have a look at the new Christmas collections coming out. This year the sets come in tins, which I love! They all feature a graphic print on them and stack on top of each other if you were to get more than one. They are perfect for re-using on your dressing table.

I took home the ‘It’s a love fest’ tin which contains a full sized The Porefessional Primer and They’re Real Mascara, and mini Sun Beam highlighter, and Coralista lipgloss. It retails at £39.50 and would make a fab gift for a makeup lover.

The other set I really loved the look of at the event was the Little Love Potions – a great way to try out lots of Benefit products and super sizes for if you travel a lot. This set is £29.50 and will definitely be going on my Christmas list!

Other new products joining the Benefit shelves is under my spell Noelle perfume, and Bathina body oil.

The perfume comes in the Benefit perfume trademark cute cocktail shaker style bottle. It’s a sweet but grown-up smell, with top notes of cardamom, black pepper and lingonberry. Middle notes of wild orchid, jasmine petals, vanilla flower, fresh rose and soft violet. Bottom notes of patchouli, accord oud, black amber, vanilla beans, benzoin resin and raspberry. They make a gorgeous wintery woody fragrance. Noelle is on sale now and retails at £29.50 for 30ml.

Bathina takes it back to the old-school with the original Benefit scent. If you remember Benefit from long ago, you will remember this smell – and it still smells gorgeous. Lightly floral and clean smelling, this body oil is great – the spray mists it on to your skin, and it dries as soon as you rub it in – so no feeling like a grease-bomb. It’s lightweight and hydrating and leaves the skin lovely and soft with a delicate smell left behind. It goes on sale on 26th October priced at £26.50 for 75ml.

Crescent Row is the new limited edition perfume set – with miniature 10ml bottles of Benefit favourite perfumes – the new under my spell Noelle, laugh with me LeeLee, ring my Bella and my place or yours Gina and is priced at £29.50

All of the Christmas sets launched on Friday, so if you’re near a Benefit counter, be sure to pop in and check them out, or you can have a look on the Benefit website.

The other thing to set a reminder for in your diary is the launch of the advent calendar, ‘Countdown to Love’ – it’s priced at £50 and filled with mini Benefit products. It goes on sale on 2nd November but each store will only be getting around 15 calendars each, so if you want one you need to be quick!

Bobbi Brown Bellini Lip & Eye Palette

The Bobbi Brown Bellini Lip & Eye Palette is a gorgeous, limited edition piece they they have brought out as part of their Christmas 2012 collection. It’s very compact (think half a CD box in size but double the thickness) yet houses a whopping 10 eye shadows and 4 lip glosses, a large mirror and two brushes.

The eye shades included are, from left to right – top row – Navajo, Candlelight Gold (metallic), Petal (shimmer wash), Cement, Prosecco (new). Bottom row – Truffle, Bellini (shimmer wash), Bronze Stone (shimmer wash), Brown Sugar (metallic), Caviar.
They are all very soft, blend-able shadows – I’ve been using the palette for the past few weeks and haven’t experienced any fallout at all which is always a bonus! A lot of the colours are fairly neutral and pale but if you can work in some of the shimmer/metallic, or the Caviar, into your look you can totally vamp it up. Navajo is a great colour for all over the lid as a base, and although you may wonder what a pink shade (Petal) is doing with all these smokey colours, I have been wearing it with caviar and Candlelight Gold for a smokey eye and I think they’re gorgeous together!
Here I am wearing a fairly strong, and fairly soft look done with this palette. In the top photo I have used a nude lipstick and put the Bobbi Brown gloss on top. The bottom look is done using just the Bobbi gloss (Bare and Bubble Bath mixed together)
The lip colours are very pretty, yet very sheer. They give just a hint of colour to the lips, but a gorgeous glossy finish. When I want a stronger lip, I have been wearing a lipstick with one of the glosses over the top.
The colours are, from left to right – Bubble Bath (new), Chrome Pink (shimmer) (new), Bellini (glitter) & Bare.

I have loved using the palette. It’s such a perfect size, slotting into my make up bag so easily, and the fact the brushes are ‘proper’ Bobbi Brown brushes, shrunk down is perfect too. Another thing I love is that the mirror is as big as the palette so you don’t have to contort yourself to be able to see what you’re doing which you so often get with palettes!

The Bellini Palette costs £59 from plus at the moment they are offering a free mini mascara duo with every order, free delivery (or free named day delivery today only) and a free silver make up bag when you spend over £50 with the code SILVER – bargain!

    Party-Perfect Tips

Every girl loves an excuse to get done up but if your Christmas schedule is anything like mine then it means you need to do your nails at your desk and your make-up in the back of a cab. So for real glamour on the go, I’ve got some beauty solutions I plan on using that I thought I’d share which will have you looking party-fabulous in no time at all.

    The Look-At-Me Lips

I am a massive fan of red lips – they will never go out of fashion, but more and more people seem to be wearing red lipstick these days. To be a little different and for a modern twist, opt for orange. Not only is it fun, it’s clever too as the eye-catching colour ensures people will look at your lips and not notice tired eyes. Two tangerine hues I have my eyes on are Tom Ford Lip Color in Wild Ginger and Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Matt version in Valencia Orange. One of my faves is Hibiscus by MAC, gutted it was limited edition. Here I am wearing Morange by MAC.

    The Sequin Manicure

It wouldn’t be Christmas without some sparkle. If you are yet to try glittery talons, now’s the time to give it a go. Get into the festive spirit with Ciaté’s show-stopping new Manicure kit in Sequin. It’s a quick fix from plain to sparkalicious – simply paint your nails with the Glitter Grip, roll them in the sequin pot and seal for a glitter-tastic manicure that will glamorise any outfit. I cannot wait to try this!

    Fuss Free Hair

You want your hair to look ‘done’, yet don’t have the time or funds to keep getting a blow dry – Sleep-in Rollers are your friend! Pop them into dry, moussed hair at  night – the rollers have sponge in them so they squish right down when you lie on them. While they’re working their magic you can get your beauty sleep. When you wake (or leave them in for as long as you want) take them out, and voila – big, bouncy hair.

If you prefer wearing your hair up but a simple pony tail won’t do, cheat with a luxury hair-piece. There are loads of great styles to choose from – I particularly like the look of Hersheson’s hair bow as it seems quick and easy to put in and will make sure you stand out from the crowd.

    Party-Proof Make Up

If you want your make up to last all night (who doesn’t!?) a setting spray will help ensure that your make up will last longer – I have put various sprays to the test, and always come back to my old faithful, Urban Decay -All Nighter. For extra staying power, spray it on between layers – after your moisturiser, after foundation then after powder.

    Timothy Dunn Arabian Fig Candle

Timothy Dunn was originally a florist – tending to celebrities and big brands, who then used his knowledge of floral scents and experiences of worldly travels to create his own collection of candles which has now become the best selling range in Liberty!

His latest release is a limited edition candle, for Christmas, Arabaian Fig.

Even the packaging feels luxurious – it’s very strong and sturdy and has a leather effect to it – the writing and the inner part of the casing is gorgeous matt gold, which compliments the purple perfectly.
Inside, the candle is quite weighty – it is housed in a hand blown glass container, and comes with a silver lid embossed with the Timothy Dunn logo.
Arabian Fig is “a complex blend of wild fig, basil and clove, enhanced by frankincense, cassis, Moroccan rose, and jasmine, intertwined with radiant notes of sandalwood, cedar wood and musk”. That seems like a lot of smells going on – yet when it’s burning, it works.

The primary smell is of fig, but a spicy kind of fig – which adds to the Christmassey element of the candle. It’s not that classic, pine, Christmas smell, but a different twist on Christmas – a warming, original fragrance which I think is gorgeous not just for Christmas, but a very autumnal and wintery candle.
The wax he uses is a special blend which took years to create which ensures a lasting fragrance and even burn which is a great idea – I hate finishing a candle and there being loads of wax wasted at the sides. The smell is strong but not overpowering – I just hope with the amount I’m burning it, it lasts until Christmas!
Timothy Dunn candles are available at Liberty, Fenwick, Bond Street and

    Selfridges Lucky Bag

QUICK QUICK QUICK! Selfridges have launched their lucky bags today, but there are only 1000 of them available. They are a bag containing 5 hair and beauty items – no value is mentioned, not if they are sample sized or a mixture of full size and samples – it’s just the luck of the draw! 100 of the bags have got £150 Beauty Workshop vouchers in too. It’s too risky not to miss, I’ve just ordered two – now the dilemma is, which do I keep and which do I give to someone else for Christmas?!

The Lucky Bags cost £15 each from Selfridges

    Bobbi Brown Tube Tint Trio

Another offering from Bobbi Brown this Christmas, is the Tube Tint Trio – a new, limited edition set of three of their cult favourite lip glosses – Grape, Pink Mist, and Pink Violet.

Each 15ml tube showcases one of the different Bobbi Brown lip gloss finishes – Grape being the glitter, Pink Mist being shimmer, and Pink Violet for just a hint of colour.

When looking at the tubes, I thought Grape would be my least favourite, but on the lips, it is oh so special. This is the little black sequin dress of the lip gloss world; with the different parts of the lips twinkling when the light hits the tiny particles of silver and purple glitter. It’s a way of wearing that on-trend purpley red colour in a glam way, without looking too vampy.

Pink Mist is my next favourite. It is a very natural peachy nude gloss with a subtle hint of golden shimmer. It’s so pretty, perfect for pairing with a smokey eye.

Pink Violet is a jellyish colour which wasn’t quite as bright on the lip as I thought it would be – it’s a hint of cool toned pink which adds a sheen of colour to the lips. It’s fairly similar in Pink Mist in neutralness, but gives a different tone to the lips. It’s lovely for a soft day time look, or again, for a smokey eye.

The lip glosses are all easy to apply without having to use a separate brush, and I’ve found to be long lasting, even through drinking, they stay put for a while! They are rather thick but don’t feel sticky – I’ve loved using each of them, and the best thing is is that the set is only £28, making each gloss under £10 – bargain!
You can buy the Tube Tint Trio from

    Aussie Hair’s London Bloggers Market

On Saturday 4th December I visited the Aussie Hair Beauty Bloggers Christmas Market in London. It was a fab day out and lovely to have so many bloggers under one roof, although I only saw one I recognised (hi Bettina!). Some of the Angels were holding stalls and there was a whole variety of stuff on offer – home made cakes, make your own christmas cards, make up application, boxing lessons, face painting and a book exchange to name but a few. As well as these stalls there were masterclasses – I listened to the one by photographer Carlo Nicora on how to take better photos for your blog, and Better Blogging by Cate Sevilla, owner of Both talks were really informative and gave some valuable information. There were also flirt and catwalk classes amongst other things.
The Aussie team had put on a ‘barbecue’ of sorts, which was absolutely delicious – I could have sat and eaten plateful after plateful! There were also a couple of Aussie Hunks dressed as lifeguards (phwaorrr!) and I can’t forget the Aussie Mascots. Each of the different ranges within Aussie (Luscious Long, Aussome Volume, Frizz Miracle, Miracle Moise and Colour Mate) have a cartoon mascot which had been brought to life for the event. The stunners were dressed to look like their cartoon and they looked fab! Each of the ranges had their own stall in the market where people could book in to have their hair done. I watched the Colour Mate stylist do the most A-maaaaaazing do on a girl (who I’ve now found – see the pics of her hair here) which involved a little beehive and fishtail plaits, as soon as I saw it I wrote my name down on her list but when it came to it she was running behind and couldn’t fit me in before I had to get back to my car. If anyone has her details PLEASE can you pass them on? She’s a gem of a find and I don’t want to let her go!
There were amazingly lavish hair themed decorations dotted about the place as well as Christmas lights and just a general good atmosphere buzzing around the place. At the end of our visit Santa gave us a lovely goodie bag containing Aussie Shampoo & Conditioner and a Max Factor Smokey Eye Shadow Pencil – thank you very much Santa, and thank you Aussie for a lovely day!

You can check out some pics taken by the official photographer, and some more info on the Aussie site here.
